THE MECHANICAL MIND

critics have called it

Most artists spend their careers refining a signature sound. The Mechanical Mind was created with a different goal.

Conceived and directed entirely by Simon Jacobsohn, The Mechanical Mind is a long-term music project where every aspect, from songwriting and composition to production, artwork, video and creative direction, is developed under a single artistic vision. Rather than building a career around one genre or one successful release, the project is intentionally built as a growing catalog.

Each release is designed to stand on its own while strengthening the catalog as a whole. Industrial rock, electronic, cinematic and acoustic recordings are not separate projects. They are different chapters of the same creative work, inviting listeners to discover The Mechanical Mind through the music that resonates with them most.

In a relatively short time, that approach has earned international press, attracted listeners across multiple continents and found homes on playlists spanning numerous genres. The goal has never been to fit neatly into a category. It has always been to create a catalog that continues to grow in both depth and range.

Blurring industrial, ambient, jazz fusion, neoclassical, electro-funk, nu-disco, and synthpop, The Mechanical Mind builds immersive, unpredictable worlds where glitch, melody, rhythm, and silence collide. Electronic elements coexist with powerful guitar riffs, achieving a balance between chaos and precision.

From aching ballads to pulse-driven dance tracks, the music bridges the raw urgency of Nine Inch Nails, the cinematic melancholy of Depeche Mode, the groove-forward polish of Chromeo, and the experimental edge of Aphex Twin.

What began as an experiment has evolved into a global journey, with listeners tuning in from Turkey to Mexico, Germany to Brazil. Each release adds another unpredictable chapter to a project that thrives on emotion, resistance, and sonic adventure.

“A brutal discourse on social decay, political repression, and individual resistance.”

The Plague EP pushed this vision further, earning international recognition for its fearless critique of social decay, political repression, and personal resistance. Featured in Expansión Radial (Mexico), the record was praised for its uncompromising tone and described as “a direct blow to the senses and an uncompromising artistic statement.” In just 13 minutes, the EP moves from ominous noise portals and protest anthems to passages of stark vulnerability and hypnotic darkness — a concentrated burst of urgency that lingers long after the final track fades.

But The Plague is only one facet of The Mechanical Mind, which continues to evolve under Simon Jacobsohn’s relentless pursuit of sound and meaning. International press has recognized the project as “…a constant exploration of emotions and sonic textures that push the limits…” — a description that captures both its sonic daring and its emotional weight. Through The Mechanical Mind, Jacobsohn blurs boundaries not only between genres, but also between art forms: a composer, producer, and visual artist, he treats every release as both a musical statement and a carefully crafted world. This multidimensional approach has made The Mechanical Mind stand out as more than just a band or project — it’s a living experiment in how sound can embody resistance, vulnerability, and transformation.

“…a constant exploration of emotions and sonic textures that push the limits…”

Isn’t it beautiful when a song takes you somewhere you didn’t expect to go?

That’s exactly what happens with “Up” by The Mechanical Mind — and yes, it only goes up from the moment you press play (pun fully intended).

“…pushing boundaries and guiding your ears on a sonic trip you’ll never see coming…”

“A self-taught pianist since the age of five, Simon’s journey through sound has always straddled the emotional and the technical.”

A genre-spanning collection that breathes new life into decades-old demos, weaving ambient textures with global instrumentation.

Staring out at the golden leaves carpeting the hillside, there’s a quiet sense of reflection that mirrors what this release offers. “The Midnight Epic Sessions: Reworked & Reimagined, Vol. 1” by Simon Jacobsohn is a deeply meditative reawakening of musical ideas that span over two decades. Originally conceived in demo form, the 14-track album has now been reimagined using modern tools and techniques, blending ambient, world music and electronic influences into a contemplative journey.

What truly captivates you is the elegance evoked by the song's opening notes. From the moment you hear them, they embrace you, propelling you forward with the necessary energy. The fleeting vibe of the instrumental, coupled with radiant lyrics that amplify the passion, creates an immersive journey.

“...a fast-paced yet emotionally charged journey that you should embrace to start your day with the best attitude in the world."
